On the morning of May 16, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) held a conference "Summarizing science and technology activities for the period 2011-2021 and orientation to 2030 in the field of science and technology". The conference summarized the science and technology work in the field of environment in the period 2011 - 2021. During this period, many approved research projects focused on solving priority and practical issues at the request of the state management of environmental protection, many new and difficult issues have been researched, clarified in terms of content and clear research results, effectively and efficiently serving state management activities of ministries, branches and localities. However, the work still has some limitations that require a synchronous and comprehensive solution to achieve the common goals that Vietnam has committed at COP26.

Attending the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Manh Tien - Chairman of the Vietnam Water Conservation Network, member of the Presidium of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, former Director of the Institute of Strategy and Financial Policy resources and the environment gave speeches to contribute. According to Mr. Tien, for the issue of environmental protection, there are two areas that need to be analyzed: "green area" and "brown area". "Green area" is a conservation issue which will be associated with restoration in some developed countries. "Brown area" are scientific and technological problems in the field of environment. This field should be divided into sub-branches according to each problem, from which to delve into research and provide appropriate technology solutions. In particular, Mr. Tien recommended that ministries and agencies should pay attention to the issue of water sources because this is an issue that directly affects public health.
