On April 7, 2023, at Meeting Room No. 1, 15th Floor of the Administration Center, 24 Tran Phu, Da Nang City, a preliminary meeting program for the project "Collective Actions for Water Conservation" (CAWACON) took place  by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funding.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Vo Nguyen Chuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (NRE) of Da Nang city. Participants included: Mr. Nguyen Khac Hung - Director of the Center for Environmental and Community Research (CECR), Mr. Nguyen Duc Duong - USAID Representative in Vietnam; representatives of agencies: Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (IEST), Faculty of Environment - University of Science and Technology, Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Thanh Khe District, Danang City Youth Union, Management Board of Au Boat and Tho Quang Fishing Port; together with leaders of units under the Department of Natural Resources and Environment: Sub-Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Minerals and Water Resources, Center for Natural Resources and Environment Monitoring, Center for Information Technology of Natural Resources and Environment.

The main objective of the meeting was to make a preliminary report, update progress, and evaluate the implementation of the CAWACON project in nearly 3 years (2021-2023) deployed in Da Nang city with the aim of minimizing water pollution, contributing to the implementation of the Project "Building Da Nang - An Environmental City" and promoting the completion of ongoing components, preparing for the project review in June 2023.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Khac Hung - Director of CECR Center - delivered a speech on "CAWACON project progress report", summarizing completed initiatives/activities; and update the progress of the project's activities to be completed in April 2023.

Next, the units implementing the project's components also exchanged and updated progress, difficulties and obstacles in the process of implementing activities, and the parties discussed about the issues and  the solution to finish the activities within the set time, under the direction of the leader of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Da Nang city.

At the end of the program, the Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and Environment highly appreciated the proactive and positive spirit, along with the close and responsible coordination and support of CECR and members of the Vietnam Water Conservation Network. (VIWACON); at the same time, making recommendations to ensure progress, efficiency, preparation for the completion and finalization of the project.
