The project “Collective Actions for Water Conservation” (CAWACON) is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Center for Environment and Community Research (CECR) coordinates the Vietnam Water Conservation network (VIWACON) and partners in Da Nang's implementation. In order to update the progress of activities and orientations, and increase the efficiency of implementation in 2022, on the morning of January 13, 2022, Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and Environment coordinated with CECR to hold a preliminary conference. implementation of the project "Collective Actions for Water Conservation".

The conference was attended by the Donor Representative - United States Agency for International Development (USAID); leaders of Danang Department of Natural Resources and Environment; leaders of departments and units: Sub-Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Minerals and Water Resources, Center for Monitoring of Natural Resources and Environment, Center for Information Technology of Natural Resources and Environment; representatives of agencies and units: Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, City Police, Research Institute of Socio-economic Development; Association for Protection of Nature and Environment of Da Nang City, Danang University of Technology, Department of Natural Resources and Environment: Thanh Khe district, Hoa Vang district; People's Committees of wards and communes implementing projects: Hoa Khe, Thanh Khe Tay, Hoa Nhon, Hoa Phong, Hoa Lien; City Veterans Association; Da Nang Youth Union; Management Board of Boat Lock and Tho Quang Fishing Port; Representatives of the members of the Vietnam Water Conservation Network (VIWACON): Center for Environmental and Community Research (CECR); Environmental and Community Initiative Development Center (C&E), Consulting Center for Sustainable Development of Water Resources (CEWAREC), Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (INEST).

After 6 months of implementation, the project has now started and implemented 8 initiatives, these are proposals built from the actual needs of Da Nang, the focus revolves around supporting the implementation of the Project. "Building Da Nang-Environmental city" in the 2021-2030 period, specifically, initiatives include:

• Preventing water pollution at the boat dock and Tho Quang fishing port
• Building a residential area for sustainable development
• Promote water reuse initiatives under the circular economy approach
• Coordinating the implementation of activities of the Coordination Committee for Integrated Management of Vu Gia - Thu Bon river basin and Quang Nam - Da Nang coastal area
• Researching and proposing solutions to protect the water environment of the Phu Loc river with the participation of the community
• Building a set of indicators to assess environmental protection and management (at the district level) based on community surveys
• Developing an annual plan to implement the Project "Building Da Nang - an environmental city"
• Environmental education communication activities
