PROGRAM TO LAUNCH THE COMMUNITY YOUTH PROJECT TO JOIN HANDS TO PROTECT WATER SOURCES AND IMPROVE THE LANDSCAPE OF PHU LOC RIVER IN THANH KHE DISTRICT

On April 9, 2023, at Da Nang University of Physical Education and Sports- 44 Dung Si Thanh Khe Street, Thanh Khe Tay Ward, Thanh Khe District, Da Nang City– Da Nang Youth Union held a “Program to launch the community youth project to join hands to protect water sources and improve the landscape of Phu Loc river in Thanh Khe district”. The activity is within the framework of the project “Collective Actions for Water Conservation” (CAWACON) funded by USAID and implemented by CECR in coordination with the VIWACON network and partners. 

The program has the participation of leaders of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Da Nang City, Da Nang Environmental Protection Department, representatives of departments, agencies, mass organizations in Da Nang; Leaders of Thanh Khe District People’s Committee and Thanh Khe East and Thanh Khe West wards; representative of Center for Environment and Community Research (CECR); representatives of leaders of Da Nang Youth Union; And especially the presence of a large number of people and Youth Union members of Community groups joining hands to protect water sources and improve the landscape of Phu Loc river.

After the ceremony, Youth Union members in the area conducted environmental sanitation and painted murals with the theme “Green Da Nang”. This activity was carried out throughout to complete and hand over to the locality on April 26 as an activity of young people responding to the holiday of April 30 and May 1. 

     

Cleaning up Yen Khe 1 and Yen Khe 2 routes

On April 15, the people of 02 wards Thanh Khe West and Thanh Khe East- Thanh Khe district- also went out to clean up 02 roads Yen Khe 1 and Yen Khe 2. Along with that, fishing groups Residents of 05 residential areas under the model “Communities join hands to protect water sources and improve the landscape of Phu Loc river in Thanh Khe district” also assisted in cleaning, picking up trash from the water surface for cleaning and maintaining the landscape of Phu Loc river…

The program’s activities have brought admirable results: clean and beautiful streets, ponds and lakes without any garbage; The bright art paintings right on the walls- Which used to be patched with moss– bright smiles on the faces of the people passing by… All of the above achievements come from the cooperation and consensus of the people. 02 wards Thanh Khe West and Thanh Khe East and enthusiastic Youth Union members.
