On April 24, 2023, at Tho Quang Harbor and Fishing Port (ATTQ) – No. 20 Van Don, Son Tra, Da Nang city – The Management Board of ATTQ held the Festival “Community to join environmental protection actions at Tho Quang Harbor and Fishing Port”.

The purpose of the Festival is to: Communicate to relevant organizations, mass organizations and individuals about the initiative “Community joins hands to protect the environment at ATTQ” as well as the results achieved in real time of the initiative; create an environment for contact, exchange and discussion between management agencies (Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DONRE), Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD)) and people operating in the area about solving problems. the practice of environmental protection activities at ATTQ; at the same time, propagandize and encourage communities in the area to change their consumption habits such as limiting the use of plastic bags, saving electricity and water, and limiting the generation of waste in daily life.

Attending the Festival, there were leader representatives Department of Agriculture and Rural Development city. Danang; representatives of: City Environmental Protection Department, Son Tra District Natural Resources and Environment Department, People’s Committee of Nai Hien Dong Ward, People’s Committee of Tho Quang Ward, Border Guard, Center for Environmental and Community Research (CECR), URENCO Company 15; especially the presence of 08 members of the Community Environmental Protection Team, 30 fishermen and 45 small traders actively participating in the initiative.

After more than 4 months of implementation, up to now, the implementation activities of the initiative “Community to join environmental protection actions at ATTQ” have been completed and achieved some remarkable results:

• Communication activities: The radio and propaganda team compiled 20 news bulletins, recorded them and broadcast them regularly on loudspeakers of the unit; The Youth Union regularly operates and updates information on Zalo group of small traders and fishermen to promptly transmit information to people in the area;…

• Activities to promote small businesses and fishermen to sort, collect and dispose of garbage in the right places: Up to now, most of the small businesses in the area have known and practiced well the classification of waste and proper disposal; Fishermen have also practiced well in collecting and bringing waste back to shore after their voyages, since the beginning of the year, they have collected 5,712.7 kg of waste from 2,491 ships docked.
