On April 17, 2021, to celebrate Earth Day 2021 “Restore our Earth”, an event is held at 2 Le Thai To Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi. The event is co-organized by the Center for Environment and Community Research (CECR), Vietnam Water Conservation Network (VIWACON), and the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District with the strong support of the Vietnam Administration of Seas and Islands (VASI), Ministry of Natural resources and the Environment. Youth Union, Women’s Union, science and technology organizations, non-governmental organizations, environmental volunteer groups, schools, and people from 18 wards in Hoan Kiem district participated in this event.  

The main message of the event is: "Collective actions to reduce waste and protect water resources."  It is important that all people, businesses, organizations join hands to solve this problem.

In celebration of Earth Day 2021, the event this year is organized to raise awareness and promote behavior change toward waste disposal, to use water smartly, and to call for creative initiatives and solutions to reduce and recycle waste and use water effectively. The event also raises awareness and understanding for the community about water pollution, its impacts on the economy and human health, thereby promoting people's active participation.  

In the event, there is a kick-off ceremony of the project "National cooperation to establish a plastic waste circulation economic model in Vietnam" and a memorandum of understanding is signed between the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District, Dow Vietnam, Hoa Viet Technical Joint Stock Company, Vinh Thanh Joint Stock Company, and Center for Environmental and Community Research to promote plastic waste recycling in Hoan Kiem. 

The event has many meaningful interactive activities such as a race of 500 people around Hoan Kiem lake; exhibition of initiatives to reduce, recycle waste, protect water, protect the Earth from members of the Vietnam Water Conservation Network (VIWACON), the women's union, the eco-volunteer team, and schools in Hoan Kiem District; awareness-raising interactive game on minimizing, recycling eco-friendly garbage, protecting water resources and protecting the Earth.
